Looks good, it is suprising how some cameras look after cleaning them up. I sometimes use chromecleaner just to get the black out of the chrome tops. Unfortunatly it kills the black lettering which you than have to redo again.

The hotshoe mount is a bit loose... do you know how I can secure that Tom?

Gary, I´ve had a Praktica when I was younger... MTL3 (or was it a MTL5?) if I'm not mistaken... it was my first SLR, and I used it for a couple of years, until I upgraded for a Pentax LX in 1984. Rugged and brave, it was with me in many hard photo safaris... some of the scans to come were Praktica shots...

Yeah they are hardy cameras alright! :) I've got some shots up from my TL2 and they are superb! Just because Pentacon was East German doesn't mean its not razor sharp!

Drooooool... Nice find! That lens is the Zeiss design with the Pentacon branding. I bet its pleanty sharp.

Ooooo didn't know that! Superb! Is it any different from the old pentacon I wonder, apart from the coating. Can't wait to finish the test roll :)

The MTL5B is a "tank like" camera. Mine was bought in 1986.

Yours is in better condition than mine.
I've featured it and added specs to www.camerapedia.org/wiki/Praktica_MTL_5_B
Cheers!
