Oh no no Wade don't worry! I've had this baby for nearly 6 months now! :D It was the one that started me off on my rangefinder spree though ;) It cost me £25 inc p&p from the Ukraine. Just thought i'd take some proper pics of it what with the crappy weather stopping me from going outside and shooting nicer things ;)

Your lens looks better than the Panda Industar on my FED3, I'm jealous!

The panda is actually a pretty nice lens too. I prefer the J8 because it allows me more flexibility in low light. It doesn't have click stops for the aperture however so it's easy to nudge out of place when shooting!

Is your self-timer working OK?

Mine works only if the mechanism is reset from inside of the camera - haven't tried fixing this yet

Self timer working fine! :) This camera is in very good condition. The original panda lens was stiff with old grease so I relubed it and sold it. I now use the coated 61 L/D that came with the FED5 and the excellent f2 J8. :)

Cool camera Krasnyi. The first rangefinder is like first love; your heart breaks a little. (Mine was a Canon Canonet QL19).

I am thinking about a Jupiter 3 on LTM. I want to try the Sonnar design - but I 've heard some horror stories about the quality control of that particular lens.

The J3, is that the 50mm f1.5? Yeah I've heard some bad stuff about it too! :D Good luck though, you just never know! The first model J8 that I received with my Zorki this morning is really tattered and dirty, but after a bit of cleaning, i find that it's actually in perfect shape! So you do get little gems from the factories of Krasnorgorsk every now and again! :)

have you tried the manual? you have to push the ring around the shutter release down and turn it towards the letter 'B', the ring should stay down. then rewind your film. remember to release the ring back up again when you load the new film.

Check this out! I prefer Fed-3 with the black I-61 L/D. Don't know why. Maybe, because of the red numbers on it. I also bought it with an FED-5. It was a crappy camera itself and too big for my taste, but I-61 L/D was just like new. Maybe, it was from another camera, not from the one it came with. And I still have original white earlier I-61, not L/D.

the silver I61 (non L/D) or 'panda' lens is the original one that was sold with FED3s. Most L/Ds are pretty new as they were made into the early 90s as were the FED5. it's excellent with colour film :)

Yeeeah, I have this camera too, but now selling it. Shot few rolls on it and was very pleased with the quality and mechanics, but decided to look for something more new with metering system =) Might get another one if I miss it too much from Russia on my next trip.
