i just found a minolta hi-matic f at a thrift store. It was a great find besides the threads being bent. I dont plan on adding another lens so its cool. I mean how could you beat 50 cents?! So, a few questions, please help me get a feel for it. What batteries did you use? I was researching it when i found your photos, there great by the way. I was reading about the batteries and i am alittle confused. Oh and how do you get over the focusing. Please keep in mind this is my first time using such a basic film i have another film camera the minolta xe-7 which has all of the new features. so any advice will help i don't know the what's what on this one. Please don't think i am a total dweeb to this photo thing just that i am a digital photographer wanting to experiment with film. Total beginner here. please help. Thanks in advance sooooooo glad i found you!

Actually just found this link for the original guide that is super helpful. but know i am hooked! i am missing the rewind knob and dont know wether to replace it with another camera of the same model knowing that ebay has them super cheap. i am so intrigued by this little guy.i already named him to Murdoch. These cameras to me have such a cool personality. But i can live with no having a knob seeing that it was only 50 cents. your advice would be awesome anyways.

oh dear, the rewind knob is kinda vital, as you need to pull it up in order to open the back of the camera (as i remember). of course you can use pliers to pull it up, and then remove the film and load it into another camera in order to rewind it... if that makes sense? i would strongly advise getting a replacement part for it. maybe a broken minolta which you can use for parts? might be able to replace the dented lens ring as well.
i really can't remember what batteries i used with mine, but you can get the required 2.8 v from using two hearing aid batteries of the zinc-air type. these will be smaller than the original, but as you as you pad the space with foil or a spring it will still work. they are also very cheap on ebay.
that's about it really. good luck and have fun!
