Is that one of those Jagdpanzers or do I have no idea what Im on about, haha...

elegant observation
It's a StuG IV

JAMIE X has moved
StuG's are SO badass.

Sean gets it right again :P let's not always see the same hands next time children! :D

ugly little brute isn't it... weren't many StuG IVs were made, the Germans prefering the StuG IIIs more.

Vlad, there is a Jagdpanzer, which is also based on the Panzer IV chassis, but has a sloping front and a badly designed over-hanging gun. the centre of gravity was so poor that some of the rear road wheels had to have extra weights attached in order to counter the gun! NOT to be mistaken for a Jagdpanther though which is a whole different kettle of fish :)

when I was a kid, a 6 wheel "saladin" tank parked outside our house and the pavement "collapsed" about 20-30 cms.

Wow,did you made this? I love it !!

Ahhh takes me back. I've got a couple of Tamiya kits I put together back in my Art School days... an M113 APC / T-55 / Challenger 1 / Chieftain / M1A1 Abrams and an M41 Walker Bulldog (which was part of an ARVN diorama I made)

Ahhh dry brushing.

Seen on your photo stream. (?)

"Arven!" ;) Funny side to pick though! But certainly interesting when compared with all the usual WWII malarky. One of my dreams as a child was to own a proper airbrush kit... alas, had to make do with careful painting and then weathering with tons of dry brushing :)

Tamiya roooools

My job is to identify german armour amongst other things. what fun i have counting return rollers and designating MGs :(

KF 红相机
What kind of job is that?!?! Actually, that's kinda like my job... only it's counting them, and not just restricted to German armour... try working out the Iraqi army tank orders is just a little bit annoying.

TheBackupVault
I'm sure they'll buy/inherit something American... but a generation behind the M1 or a slightly degraded model... :-P

Jordan's given them a bunch of T72s, the Egyptians, with US blessing, are going to give them M1A1s. Also tons of BMP2s and thousands of ex US Humvees. Also Chinese NORINCO Type 69s and 59s left over from the wars.

TheBackupVault
Well that makes for an interesting maintenance programme!

i know right?!?

I work for a commercial military archive. I spend my days with copies of Janes etc identifying everything from victorian weaponry through to wehrmacht and more contemporary hardware for usage in books/tv programmes etc. It's a bit of a random job!

Yesterday for example I was playing with bits of Zeppelins!

KF 红相机
omg there is such a job!? if i knew that i would have just stayed in glasgow! but seriously though, if you ever come across something that you can't ID or just can't bothered to, send it my way! :) seriously, it will break up our office monotony and give my room full of nerds a challenge! any period, any nation, any type of weaponry ;) though we do excel at random warsaw pact kit

heavenly friends
I certainly will. I meant to ask you - what is it that you do as a day job?

PLA/military analyst at the International Institute for Strategic Studies, soon to pop off somewhere else though... if everything goes to plan. I'm responsible for everything to do with East Asia, which includes the Military Balance- one of our flagship publications (kinda like the yellow pages of war). So yeah, kit wise, we are pretty sorted :)

Jeez I just finished producing a tank id booklet for a UK gov monitoring team going to Georgia... trying to explain the difference between a T72 and a T72M wasn't fun...
