Nice! Looks pretty minty.
Do you have a 35mm viewfinder for it? The FSU ones aren't bad or too expensive.
How about a Helios-103 50/1.8 lens? Planar design, I recall, so slightly different look than the sonnar Jupiter.

yep, the kiev originally came with one. i also have a helios 35, 85, and 135 finder. not the turret one but much cheaper. that's being sent down by my mate who i loaned it to.

That's a nice one. How's the focus wheel on your Kiev? Stiff or easy to move?

james: the wheel is fantastically easy to move for the inner mount lenses like the J8 and the Helios 103, but obviously stiff for the J12.

hi,
could you please explain the issue with the inner mount a liitle bit more? I'm not really into this FSU stuff, but would like to join with exact this combo. Is this only with your model, or will this happen with any other one?
KF 红相机
erm... bit hard to explain. best to do a google search!
basically, kiev lenses don't have focusing helicals of it's own, it's just lenses in a metal tube essentially. the focusing helical is actually on the body itself (the bit with distance marks on it).
kiev lenses are split into two mount types, the smaller lenses like the helios 109 has a bayonet on the bottom of the lens and this is placed inside the lens mount and twisted into place.
other lenses such as the J12 wide or the J9 telephoto will need to be mounted outside the helical due to its size. the focusing ring on the mount has bayonet flanges for this purpose. the focus will the stiffer but then again you can focus by turning the lens itself rather than with the contax focusing wheel.
hope that helped!

Ah.. okay. Especially the last sentence was important for me. I can live with turning the ring of the lens itself. Thank you.

Kiev 4AM with a Jupiter 12 wide angle lens- the same camera and lens that I finally received last weekend, having ordered it from a less than reliable e-bay seller back in June. I'd resigned myself to not receiving them at all. (A stupid purchase really- I ordered the lens thinking it would fit my Zorki and Fed, then realised it wouldn't, so 'had' to bid for the camera as well so as not to waste the money for the lens. ) Looking forward to using it- I just wish it had arrived before I went on holiday.

crickey! glad it arrived :) better late than never! i'm ashamed to say I have yet to finish this roll of film!!! damn film seems to be on forever!

I've just loaded and started to use this camera- but -I know this sounds stupid-I have no idea how to rewind at the end of the film. There should be a button somewhere to press/ pull out - but Where?
Sorry- I think I've found the answer- it's all to do with the red dot on the bottom.
