You are not alone! a couple of weeks ago there was two of those white dots (getting technical now), not sure what it is but it is baffling me as well, i have worked on livingstone road for 6 years and i have only just noticed them!

I think the dot is Venus. It's often visible as a very bright star around dusk or dawn, depending in where it (and earth) is and a quick check on the Jodrell Bank website says it's visible without binoculars at around sunset at the moment :-)
