Wow Canonet GIII-17! The long seller! When I was in my boyhood, many friends of mine had it, three to four decades ago... Then, does yours still do well?

paulmichaelsnr: yeah sure, they are nice... if you can find one mounted on a fixed lens compact rangefinder ;) the only other fast fixed lens RF I can think of that can beat these is a yashica lynx model with a 1.4 lens. but its *huge*.
tohru: i was lucky, the case was battered but the camera itself was mint :) even came with a perfectly functioning canolite. had to get the shutter cleaned a while back but given me no problems since

aye it's true, but it sits so well in that extra pocket in the photo bag that you never really know what to do with :) i have it loaded with some E6 when i'm out with the 40D just in case :)

This does look very nice. I have a Yashica GTN (f1.7) but it's a bit impractical because of it's size. Nice lens, but it rarely gets taken out anymore...

I have a QL17 and l Iove the look and feel of it! The black light tight seal around the inside of the camera is coming off, but other then that this camera works great! I'm seroiusly considering buying its descendant, the Canon G9.
Very nice shot by the way. Love the warm feeling with the wood behind.

yeah i hear the G9's pretty solid.
yeah the odd 48mm filter size is kinda annoying :) luckily my one came with the original cap and an official canon haze filter. win!

48mm is a pain - as my GIII is quite tatty i have butchered a 49-52 step up ring into the lens thread - now is can use al my 52mm filters from my FD range also a wide andle converter - just put the focus on oo and youre away!!!!

that reminds me that my Canonet went AWOL a few months back.. I gotta find out where that went.. it's one of my favorite 'car cameras' to keep around for unexpected opportunities
