Sorry to hear about the 350D accident and hope the repair doesn't cost you an arm and a leg! Why not keep that and have it converted for IR only use and get the 40D as well? The 40D is a very different camera and the 'live view' is superb for landscape and macro work. :D

not going to bother with repairs. just going to use it to mount my large collection of excellent manual lenses :) although i lost the spring under the lens release pin (the little silver bit that sticks out on the mount) so none of my lenses 'click' into place anyway. och well.

but IR... now that's a though! nothing to lose eh? :)

Well I know that already you are a very capable operator in the IR realm, however think of the freedom a converted body would give you. Hand held IR work? A new dimension of creativity? It is marvellous! That said, you will probably lose about $400 plus postage costs for the conversion if you don't want to do it yourself. :D

yikes just looked at a DIY IR site and it put me right off! soldering?! i haven't done that since electronics class in GCSE! and to be honest, i should really spend the £200 on a nice prime (eyeing up the sigma 30/1.4) but most importantly at the moment- trying to have enough money to eat! still a student scraping through life :) (been saving up my internship pay)

Check out that bokeh, copmrade.

I bought an old Olympus OM-2 off a friend of the family last year in NZ - still haven't shot a film through it.

The classic camera police will be round, no doubt...

that's good soviet workers' bokeh comrade! none of this sissy capitalist leica crap ;)

ooo an OM2! nice one :) i find the OM1 and 2's wind on the closest thing to a leica.. that might get some flak but that's tested against my_phillip's M2 and M6 :) so smooth it's unreal. although my one is developing a fault and causing overlap between frames. grrr
