beautiful portrait of lucky Sarah!

he who shall
Nice portrait! Flare is probably from a combination of wide aperture, no lens hood (?), and aiming just a wee too much into the light. But hey, it's a Yashica TLR, so you have to be happy. ;-)

the flare works ok here, it gives the portrait some extra softness.

What flare, it's perfect :P Learn to love it mate, niceshot

yeah i would normally expect a bit of flaring without a hood and all that but in some of my other pictures i didn't even point it at any strong light source! hmmm i shall try to love it i suppose :)

Just be thankful you don't have fungus to make it worse. Or do you?

My Rollei flares so bad if I use it outside...

i think i might actually :( better get a hood. annoying thing is rollei/bay I hoods are so expensive on ebay! £25 for a bit of metal?! might try and fashion one out of something... hmmm

awww but i like it flooded with light! adds nicely to the mood and accentuates that big, bright smile :)

I've noticed quite a bit of flare on mine too, mostly from side lighting. I just got a scruffy looking rollei hood for $15. Scruffy keeps those damn mantle piece collectors away :)

With strong back lighting I think my yashinon performs quite well. Here's one example, shot at f4 if I remember right:

actually i took a look into the lens with the shutter on bulb and i realised why it flared so badly- there is a great big dirty pile of grease and crap at the front of the rear element- the element just behind the shutter

luckily i realised the back elements came out as a group and very easy to take out. so i gave it a good clean. there is some risidual coating damage but hopefully won't be as bad as before! but a hood is *always* a good idea :)
