Wow, thats ace!I like the shadow that it has cast.

Wow, I'd never even noticed the shadow!
I'm getting all excited about my own picture. That's bad!

Its good because its a double shadow and it looks so good, like it was meant to be taken like that!!!

Nothing wrong with getting excited about it!its a good thing, means you just enjoy it!

i love the textured surface he's standing on - what is it?

I believe it is a bushcricket. It is definitely a cricket, cos the antennae are so long. I caught one in my bathroom the other day.
.
There's one downstairs on my basil plant, and I'm hoping he'll stick around til tomorrow morning when my new macro lens arrives.

He's actually stood on the outside of the downstairs toilet window! How grand eh?

I guess you took this at home in Hull, in which case it is an 'Oak Bush Cricket' - a female in fact!
They quite commonly come into people's homes at this time of year. She's a female because she's got an ovipositor - the long sickle shaped thing at the back - for laying eggs.
Great photo!

Bush Cricket, usually what they are called.

CMP73
Thanks for that. Nice to know what's crawling around near the house!
