Do you know why the Helios creates a sort of "swirling" bokeh around the center? Like this:

oops sorry i forgot to reply! i think it's due to the lens construction to be honest, stuff like aperture blade shapes, the optical formula i.e. how the light is bent inside the lens at maximum aperture- f2 all contribute to distinctive bokehs. generally wide lenses display this kind of 'whirl'. search for the leica f1.0 noctilux and you get some *real* swirking bokeh!
